In this talk, I will share my experience in applying, interviewing, and transitioning into a Research Engineer position within the Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL) at GTRI. Participants will learn about exciting research opportunities and provided with career preparation tips regarding joining the GTRI team in solving some of the world's toughest problems in science and technology!

Speaker Bio:
Jacqueline A. Fairley’s interest in electrical engineering began with the destruction of her grandmother’s telephone and was further encouraged by her mother’s purchase of the Encyclopaedia Britannica. Her formal engineering training includes a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia along with Master and Doctoral degrees from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Fairley’s industry experience includes underfilled flip chip testing at the Motorola Advanced Technology and investigation of interference issues related to the IEEE 802.11b standard for Wireless Local Area Networks at AT&T Bell Laboratories. Her postdoctoral academic research, at Emory University, involved application of machine learning and statistical modeling techniques to develop computerized clinical decision support systems for diagnosis and treatment of neurological pathologies related to the human sleep cycle. Currently, Dr. Fairley is a Research Engineer II within the Advanced Processing and Algorithms Branch in the Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory, at the Georgia Tech Research Institute. Her research focuses on development, testing, evaluation, and real-time implementation of radar signal processing algorithms and architectures. She is passionate about promoting engineering within underserved communities and her creative endeavors include music composition, playing the piano, and pencil drawing.

Seminar with Dr. Jacqueline A.
