Ph.D. student Anna Weisling interviewed on Art+Music+Technology podcast

Anna Weisling, Digital Media PhD student, was interviewed on Sunday, Feb 7th on the latest episode of Art+Music+Technology, a podcast produced by Darwin Grosse of Cycling 74.

You can hear it here.

Anna Weisling is an active and dedicated collaborator who focuses on the relationship between audio and video and the performance possibilities shared by both. She explores the gestural and “musical” possibilities of live visual performance and the role of video in modern performance settings. Her areas of interest include instrument design, performance and collaborative practices, and new media technology.

In addition to audiovisual projects, she also teaches Audio Production and Media courses at college and university level, and enjoys all aspects of the recording and engineering process.

On the podcast, Grosse introduces Anna:

Anna Weisling is a typical Wisconsinite: she downplays her accomplishments, points out her flaws and mostly talks about how others really did all the work in her career. But when you look at her work, much of it speaks to a depth that is exceedingly artistic.

Or let me say it this way: I like her work!

In any case, in this chat with Anna, we talk about her trek through a variety of places, people and projects as she's become a busy and active artist - even as she pursues a Georgia Tech PhD. I actually resonate with a lot of her story, since it is that rural-to-not track that I took as well. Hearing how someone from a similar background found a completely different way to succeed is very interesting to me - and I trust it is interesting to you as well.
