The pavers will be replaced in two phases, completing one half of the walkway before reopening and proceeding to the second half.

To allow for the installation of a crane on the Baptist Collegiate Ministries property, Techwood Drive between Bobby Dodd Way and Fourth Street will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic beginning Wednesday, Dec. 17. This section will be closed 24 hours a day and is expected to reopen to traffic on Saturday, Dec. 20. Detour signage will be installed around the location for the duration of the closure. 

Project activity will start Dec. 9 and occur between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily. No interference with Commencement ceremonies, Dec. 11 – 13, is expected. Safety barriers will be erected around each excavation and the work utilizing heavier equipment is scheduled to occur after Dec. 15. Expect some pedestrian disruption in the affected areas. Detours will be established as needed, most likely directing foot traffic to Ferst Drive.

Following all Commencement activities, additional work such as cutting sidewalks will be necessary, and appropriate detours will be available. Project activity is scheduled for completion by Jan. 6.

A construction helicopter, or heli-crane, will be used to assist with the installation of new light poles atop the Peters Parking Deck on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The poles will be assembled on the deck and then lifted into place by the helicopter. When one pole is installed, the helicopter will move to the next pole for a total of 12 poles. Helicopter activity will occur during the entire time frame.  

• Monday, Oct. 6, and Tuesday, Oct. 7: Paving of the intersection of West Peachtree and Fifth streets. During this time, two lanes of West Peachtree Street at a time will be closed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Fifth Street will be open for traffic and parking. Expect delays turning onto West Peachtree.
• Wednesday, Oct. 8 – Friday, Oct. 10: Fifth Street will be closed 24 hours a day between West Peachtree Street and Spring Street.
• Saturday, Oct. 11, and Sunday, Oct. 12: Fifth Street will be open for the weekend, including Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. football game vs. Virginia Tech.
• Monday, Oct. 13, and Tuesday, Oct. 14: Fifth Street will be closed 24 hours a day between West Peachtree Street and Spring Street.
• Wednesday, Oct. 15 – Friday, Oct. 17: Paving of the current pedestrian walkway along the east side of Spring Street.

Georgia Power targets an anticipated completion date of September 5th. Below is a tentative schedule of activities during this period:

Once the vendors involved are finished with their work, Georgia Power will return to remove the temporary utility poles.

As part of the ongoing Ferst Drive Realignment Project, the following work will affect vehicular and pedestrian circulation in the areas noted below. No road closures are planned; however, traffic will be flagged through active work zones. Commuters should expect delays.  

1.  Manhole cover adjustments at 801 Techwood Drive and near the drive entrance to Brittain Hall loading dock. The traffic lane will be coned and traffic directed around the work area July 2 – 3.
2. The Fowler Street and Ferst Drive traffic signal pull box relocation and rewiring. The pull box containing traffic signal cables at the southeast corner of Fowler and Ferst Dive will be relocated on July 3 and the traffic signal will be out of service until 4 p.m. July 3. The installation of temporary stop signs will create a four-way stop for the duration of work.

Please note this project has been on hold pending completion of the steam vault work which closed the northern lane of Bobby Dodd.  That work is now complete and the fencing removed. One lane access is maintained to the library.

• Wednesday, June 11
  • Traffic signal cabinet work on 5th Street and Techwood Drive will commence and delays through that intersection and the surrounding areas may occur. Police will assist with directing traffic at the intersection during the replacement of the traffic cabinet.
• Monday, June 17 – Friday, June 24

  • Milling and paving will occur at the following locations - Ferst Drive from 6th Street to Tech Parkway; and Means Street from Tech Parkway to Marietta Street. The roadway will remain open with flagmen and traffic control devices diverting traffic around the areas.

Beginning May 5, the west lane and parking along West Peachtree will be closed until May 24. After May 24, the travel lane will reopen but the parking and sidewalk will remain closed until late June. The closure will be 24 hours a day. Please see the attached site plan for further details.

1. The walkway on the east side of Regents Drive connecting Tech Parkway and Ferst Drive will be closed starting April 30.

5. Regents Drive is expected to reopen May 12 barring any weather delays.
6. Ferst Drive will be closed west of Regents Drive to the Exhibition Hall loading dock driveway starting May 12.

All southbound traffic seeking to access North Avenue will be directed to use Techwood Drive. Flagmen will direct north and south bound traffic on Techwood Drive from Bobby Dodd Way to North Avenue utilizing a single lane. Please see attached graphic for additional information. 

Additionally, beginning March 6, and continuing until early April, Regents Drive will be closed to vehicular traffice. Vehicular traffic will need to detour via the new connection points on Ferst Drive/Tech Parkway at the Student Center Parking Deck entry and/or the Student Center at State Street. See the attached logistics plan for more information.

Construction in both areas is expected to last for four weeks.

Additionally, compaction testing will be performed on an area of roadway between Peters Parking Deck Entrance and Fowler Street requiring a road closure from 7:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7. Please see attached plan indicating alternate routes around this road closure. 

During the installation process, water service will be shut down in the surrounding area for a few hours between 8 a.m, – 5 p.m. 

Georgia Tech is waiting on confirmation from the City of Atlanta on which buildings will be affected. Per campus records, it appears those affected will be:

Wayfinding maps with detailed pedestrian and ADA detour information will be posted at locations surrounding the site.

Please see the attached logistics and traffic control plan. Georgia Tech Police Department, the Georgia Tech Fire Safety Office, Housing and Residence Life, and Parking and Transportation Services have reviewed and approved this closure. 

Pedestrian and vehicular detour signage is in place for safe travel around the project area.

For the safety of students, faculty and staff, the contractor will have the perimeter of the area barricaded with no pedestrian access. Flaggers will guide both the crane and the delivery trucks as they enter and depart the barricaded area from the parking lot.  All pedestrians will be directed to the alternate routes as show in red on the Site Layout & Logistics Plan.

Below is a diagram of the crane location and pedestrian detour.

• Paving on Techwood Drive, from Bobby Dodd Way to North Avenue will occur this Saturday, August 3, with Full road closure.
• Milling and paving of Third Street will occur on Wednesday, August 7,  with full road closure all day. 
• While Third Street is closed, traffic on Techwood Drive between Bobby Dodd and North Avenue will only run southbound.

Phase 1 (July 15 - 20) will close Bobby Dodd Way from Techwood Drive to just west of Fowler Street. 

Phase 2 (July 20 - August 5) will close Bobby Dodd Way from Techwood Drive to just east of Brittain Drive.

Flaggers and police assistance will ensure the safety of the area during this timeframe.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) approved the permit for the East Campus Streetscapes project to activate at the corners of Techwood Drive and North Avenue. Adjustments are being made to shorten the distance between corners providing a safer route for pedestrians and the cycle track. New curb lines and ADA ramps will also be installed. Work on the northern corners will be complete by July 26 and construction will move to the southern corners. All corners should be open by August 9 barring any weather delays. 

The two north/south crosswalks on North Avenue will be closed and pedestrians will need to cross North Avenue at either Williams Street or in front of the Alumni House. 

Work will occur Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Please see the associated logistics plan for the foot traffic detours for this area of construction.

Concurrent to this work (beginning approximately July 17), streetscape improvements will also be made between 4th and 5th Streets (area F1 on the map) in an effort to keep the overall East Campus Streetscapes project schedule intact. Please see the attached updated sequencing plan and traffic plan for these specific construction parameters and timelines.  

Driveway and alleyway access from Techwood Drive for Greek parking will be closed. All traffic will need to enter via the alleyway off of Fowler street. It is imperative that the area in the middle of the Greek lots remain open to allow access to both lots. 

Plans for accessing the dumpster for waste management are in development.

Phase 3 begins Monday, July 22. The attached plans signify construction limits and pedestrian circulation routes around the installed construction fencing. As Phase 3 begins, milling and paving operations will continue for Phases 1 and 2.  Expect delays traveling through these areas.

For the safety or the students and faculty, the contractor will have the perimeter of the area where the pump and concrete trucks will be, barricaded with no pedestrian access. Flaggers will accompany the the trucks as the enter and exit the barricaded area to and from the parking lot. Students and pedestrians will be re-routed to the alternate routes as shown in red on the site layout and logistics plan.

We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we move forward on this notable addition to campus.

Site fencing will be mobilized resulting in no access to these locations other than a slight overlap for the movement of the landscape services lot to their new location.

The sidewalk on the west side of Curran Street will be closed. Pedestrians can use the sidewalk on the east side of Curran Street  Curran Street will be open to vehicular traffic.

The relocated landscape and waste management service yard can be found off of Tech Parkway behind the Environmental Health and Safety Building.

• Depending on the underground findings, the covered walkway on Spring St may be temporarily closed for safety reasons.
  • In such a scenario, barricades and signage will be put in place to communicate this change.
  • The police officer will provide guidance for pedestrian traffic.

Additionally, Biltmore Place will be closed 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. through the end of July.

This closure is expected to last four to five weeks but will be paused Thursday, May 2, through Sunday, May 5, to accommodate heavy traffic anticipated during Tech’s Commencement ceremonies. 

Details of the closure: 

• Fifth Street will be closed between West Peachtree Street and Spring Street Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Except Thursday, May 2, and Friday, May 3.) Detour signs will be in place to help navigate the change in traffic patterns. Outside of these days and times, metal plates will be in place to allow two-way vehicular traffic. 
• Sidewalks to the north and south of Fifth Street will remain open to pedestrians for the next four to five weeks. Sidewalk closures are likely in the future.  
• Bicyclists will be required to walk their bikes on the sidewalks during closure times. 
• Parallel parking on the south side of Fifth Street will be available outside of the construction hours (Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.). 
• Changes to Stinger transit services will be posted on the Parking and Transportation website.

Scaffolding Over Spring Street Pedestrian Walkway 

The contractor is currently installing scaffolding over the left lane of Spring Street to enhance pedestrian safety.

• During scaffolding installation, pedestrians will be diverted to the west sidewalks on Abercrombie Place and Fifth Street.

A five-week program designed to educate and inform Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff about how GTPD operates and the issues they face, the Citizens Police Academy enrolls 20 attendees each session on a first-come, first-served basis.

“This was a unique experience for my cohort and gave us exposure to the inside of policing,” said Tammie Pierce, emergency management coordinator. “I really enjoyed learning about each division within GTPD and how it functions – especially the hands-on training from the forensics session. I feel more connected to our campus officers now that I know about the work they do on a daily basis to protect the community.”

*The Third Street sidewalk will reopen by March 16 and contractor will begin sidewalk, wall, and curb demolition on Techwood Drive in front of Field and Matheson residence halls beginning March 18. Once the sidewalk is reopened, the new bus stop will be constructed and traffic lanes will shift south until work is complete.

Phase 2 of the East Campus Streetscape Project will begin on Feb. 2 addressing Third Street and the entrance to the Third Street tunnel down to the sidewalk at Techwood Drive. Hydro barriers and fencing will be placed and demolition will begin Feb. 5. Once work on Third Street is complete the fencing will be shifted to the sidewalk in front of Field Residence Hall. A detailed traffic and pedestrian circulation plan will be distributed once approval is granted from the City of Atlanta.

Parking spaces along the north side of Third Street will be unavailable during construction. When work begins on Techwood Drive, a temporary bus stop will be created. Appropriate signage will direct both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

Employees have the option of securing additional W04 Permit parking at 711 Marietta St. Additionally, in case all W04 locations are at capacity, alternative parking options at W01 and W06 are available for W04 permit holders.

Construction fencing will be installed around the site perimeter and a section of the sidewalk with direct paths to the John Lewis Student Center and the Ferst Center for the Arts will be temporary closed. All pedestrian traffic will be re-routed around these two buildings to the routes shown in the logistics plan below.

This two-year timespan is due to construction work beginning on the Thomas A. Fanning Student-Athlete Performance Center, to be built on the footprint of the Edge/Rice Center in the northeast corner of Bobby Dodd Stadium.  

In addition to the sidewalk, the southbound traffic lane of Techwood Drive will also be closed to thru traffic beginning Monday, Feb. 12. Techwood Drive northbound traffic will remain open. 

Additionally, the sidewalk along Bobby Dodd Way adjacent to the stadium will be closed from Feb. 12 through Sept. 1. 

Detour routes and associated signage will be in place to ensure the safety of pedestrian and vehicular movement through the area.

UPCOMING UTILITY INVESTIGATIVE WORK

• Below grade investigative work is anticipated to begin on Dec.18 in the South lane of 5th Street. Please note this will result in a lane closure for the south side of Fifth Street between Spring Street and West Peachtree Street for approximately ten days.

• Upon completion of South Lane investigative work, North Lane investigative work will begin. This will result in a lane closure for the north side of Fifth Street between Spring Street and W. Peachtree Street for approximately ten days.

• Investigative work will take place from the hours of 9am-4pm ET. Normal traffic will resume outside the hours of 9am - 4pm ET.

• All of the Fifth Street Investigative work (South and North Lanes) is anticipated to be complete on, or near, Jan. 8, 2024. (A three-moratorium is in effect from the DOT for the holidays during the week of Dec. 25.)

• Once investigative work has concluded on Fifth Street, additional work will commence on Biltmore Avenue lasting approximately 2 weeks.

UPCOMING UTILITY WORK

• Georgia Tech anticipates the subsequent installation and utility work in Fifth Street to take place in middle to late January. Precise dates have not been established at this time.

• The installation and utility work on Fifth Street may result in 24-hour closure of lanes and the north sidewalk. Additional communications will be circulated prior to 24-hour closures.

Next, milling and paving will occur for the driveway east of Fowler (highlighted in orange) for 12/20 – 12/21. The alleyway on the west side will be inaccessible for the proposed duration. The east alleyway will be accessible via Techwood Drive.

The new entry and exit way to Peters Parking Deck on Brittain Drive will open Monday, December 18 to accommodate for the 4th street milling and paving.

“Before removing a tree, we have an outside vendor evaluate the tree to ensure our assessment is correct,” said Quentin Holden, campus tree surgeon. “While we have done everything possible to help the tree survive, the tree is leaning heavily, and a structural issue has been recently discovered at the tree’s base putting it at severe risk of failure. It must be removed for campus safety.” 

The wood from this tree will not be reused as lumber due to the curvature of the tree trunk. Wood harvested for lumber needs to have straight trunks to minimize warping and checking (separating or cracking). With the removal of the oak, multiple trees will be planted on campus, or funds equivalent to the replacement will be provided to the tree bank, in accordance with the Campus Landscape Master Plan and the Tree Care Replacement Policy. Locations for replacement trees will be identified and the trees planted in the appropriate season. Currently, the campus tree count totals more than 15,000 trees with an estimated total replacement value of more than $11 million. 

Institute Landscape Architect Jason Gregory said, “We’re always sad when we have to remove such a large tree on campus, but it is part of the management of our urban forest to maintain a safe environment for everyone.” 

Blasting notification for the surrounding area will occur as follows. (Times are approximate.)

• At 2:10 p.m., five long horns will sound.

• At 2:14 p.m., three horns will sound and then an all-clear horn.

• In the event that detonation is unsuccessful, the contractor will either attempt the detonation again, before 3:30 p.m., or postpone the blast until the next day.

Due to ground conditions, the horn notification is expected to be more disruptive than the blasting itself.  Vibrations will be noticeable in the surrounding areas, and a series of seismographs have been installed in the surrounding buildings to monitor vibrations.

The Biltmore Place roadway will be closed when blasts are planned for the north end of the construction site. Spring Street, West Peachtree Street, and Fifth Street will remain open to vehicular traffic. Depending upon the blast location within the construction site, pedestrian traffic directly along the fence may be closed in the 10 minutes leading up to the ground blast.

Ground blasting will occur as needed and may not happen every day. When blasting is planned, Georgia Tech will notify building and facility managers in the vicinity via email within 24 hours of each blast.

• A stair tower will be erected in the Northwest corner of the golf cart parking/charging area (highlighted in blue).  2-3 carts will have to be relocated to the South side of the parking/charging area.
• Scaffolding will be erected on the East side of the Gym (highlighted in red).  Pedestrian and cart travel in this area will be restricted during the construction period.
• The contractor will erect a safety barricade at the Northwest corner of the Storeroom (highlighted in red).  Access will be provided for daily deliveries to the Storeroom.  A trash dumpster (highlighted in green) will be placed inside the fenced area.  Several I&S (formerly Facilities Management) reserved parking spaces within the barricade will need to be relocated during the construction period.

The installation of a new electrical duct bank serving the Area 2 residence halls (Hopkins/Hanson/Perry/Matheson/Field) will begin Dec. 19 and continue into the start of spring semester.  The installation under the roadway of 3^rd St. will require a full closure of 3^rd St. (east of Techwood Dr. and Williams St.) up to where it intersects with the North Ave. off-ramp. The closure will occur daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The associated maps indicates the approximate path (red line) of the new electrical duct bank. Attached are detailed phasing images showing the area when:

a.      The road is closed 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

b.      The road is open 4:01 p.m. to 8:59 a.m.

1. Daily work hours are 6:00AM to 3:30PM.
2. Estimated completion date of Thursday, November 10th.
3. Construction activities include saw cutting / removal of asphalt and excavation work for installation of new chilled water piping.
4. Schedule is weather permitting and subject to change.
5. Sidewalk closure signage will be provided at both ends of the pedestrian walkway. Construction signage will be posted at regular intervals along the temporary fencing.

Campus Center
The John Lewis Student Center and Stamps Commons opened the week of August 1. As part of the Campus Center Project, this final phase consisted of the renovation of the original part of the Student Center building, the addition of a brand new three-story building in place of the original Stamps Commons, and upgrades to the Kessler Campanile and its surrounding plaza.

The iconic Campanile and surrounding plaza are being reconfigured to improve the accessibility around the site. Its water feature will be updated to become more sustainable so that beloved campus traditions that occur in that space can safely continue. These improvements are on track for completion later this fall.

10^th Street Electrical Substation Improvements – Phase 2
Improvements have increased the electrical resiliency of the plant by upgrading its four electrical substations to protect capacity required for campus cooling. This electrical substation powers the 10^th Street chiller plant that provides chilled water to the campus and currently operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Originally constructed in 1995, the plant has been expanded and currently houses seven chillers with a total capacity of more than 15,000 tons.

828/830 West Peachtree Demolition
The demolition of two buildings along West Peachtree is complete, and the space is currently being used for campus parking. During the fall semester, the space will house food trucks and serve as additional parking for gameday visitors.

Howey Physics – Lecture Hall 5 Renovation
Following the successful renovation of the four large lecture halls in the building, Lecture Hall 5 is now complete. Flexible seating was installed along with new windows to allow daylight into the revitalized space.

Ramblin’ Wreck Garage
Constructed to house and display the Institute’s mechanical mascot, the nearly all-glass structure with showroom-quality lighting and rooftop solar array will foster community spirit in the heart of campus. The garage houses a tool bench, vehicle turntable, and lift for students to maintain the Wreck. Located near the Campus Center and the Campanile Plaza, the garage will showcase the Ramblin’ Wreck and offer outdoor programmable space. The Wreck will also be in a direct line of sight from the Little Theatre in the Student Center, where prospective student tours depart, reinforcing the connection between the students and Georgia Tech’s rich traditions.

Gilbert Hillhouse Boggs Building Electrical Project
This resiliency project will replace the existing network transformers, panels, and switchgear that support the electrical distribution systems throughout the facility that houses laboratories and offices spaces for the College of Sciences. The upgraded system will increase preparedness and the ability to respond to electrical disruptions. The expected completion date is May 2023.

Coliseum Annex Renovation
Adjacent to McCamish Pavilion, the Coliseum Annex will undergo renovations to its student-athlete Track and Field and Cross Country locker rooms, coaches’ locker rooms, the training room, and storage and support spaces. A lounge, nutrition space, and hydrotherapy space are also planned. The third-floor renovation will consist of two new smaller locker rooms for officials and visiting teams. Project completion is slated for year-end 2022.

Access Control Upgrade
In progress since 2015, the implementation of a single, campuswide physical access control service is planned for completion by the end of the year. The scope of work includes the replacement of existing access-control hardware systems for an estimated  4,000 entrances to academic buildings, research space, and athletic facilities.

Community and Chefs Garden Expansion
The Community Garden, located on the east side of the Instruction Center, will be upgraded to add accessible pathways and garden plots as well as increase the number of individual plots. The installation of cooking instruction tables and facilities will allow for chef demonstrations. More trees will be planted in the orchard area, and there will also be the installation of a new composting area, shed, and fencing. This project is scheduled to be complete in October.

JUST GETTING STARTED

Science Square
Twenty acres of mostly undeveloped land just off North Avenue near Northside Drive will be transformed into a new research community. Science Square will expand the biotech and life science research space and help revitalize and nurture new opportunities on Atlanta's west side. A 13-story tower will feature labs, clean rooms, and research space as well as retail space and affordable housing. A $500,000 grant will kickstart job training so people in this community will be able to learn, work, and research here. Science Square is slated to open in 2024.

Aerospace Engineering Aircraft Hangar
The Aircraft Hangar facility is proposed to be in the North Avenue Research Area (NARA) adjacent to the Techway building complex. This project will primarily focus on creating a facility to house small aircraft for the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering research. The facility will be approximately 10,000 gross square feet and consist of two floors. Design planning is underway.

D.M. Smith Building Renewal
Renovations will include several upgrades to the building’s infrastructure, including strengthening compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 by creating a permanent wheelchair access feature and adding an elevator. New mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems will increase occupants’ health and comfort, as well as the building’s energy efficiency. A virtual lab and hoteling spaces will be created for members of the School of Public Policy. The outer structure will remain largely intact, and all proposed changes will respect the historical character of the building. Renovations to the building are planned to begin in late 2023 and conclude in Spring 2025.

Georgia Tech Veterans Walk of Honor
Located outside the Veterans Resource Center, this tribute project will honor all Georgia Tech alumni, students, and staff who have answered the call to service in the United States armed forces. The walkway leading to the Veterans Resource Center will feature granite inlays and mounted wall plaques recognizing the six branches of the armed forces. Each inlay will include a portion of morse code representing the branch’s slogan, encouraging discovery and reflection. Adjacent elevated signage will display the core values of military service: honor, courage, commitment, respect, duty, valor, service, and integrity. An upper plaza reflection area will feature an American flag and overlook Griffin Track and McCamish Pavilion, with the city skyline in the distance.

Student Athlete Performance Center
The 115,000-square-foot facility will be built in the footprint of the current Edge/Rice Center in the northeast corner of Bobby Dodd Stadium. The Center will house strength and conditioning, nutrition, sports medicine, ticket sales, and academic support. It will also include new expanded space for Georgia Tech football, featuring a dedicated football-only strength-and-conditioning area, players’ lounge, and meeting spaces. The student-athlete performance center will also include premium seating for Georgia Tech football games and other events held inside Bobby Dodd Stadium. The estimated completion date is early 2026.

East Campus Streetscape
Renovation of sidewalks and roadways will improve pedestrian and cycle access, safety, and connectivity to the east side of campus and Tech Square. Current sidewalks, curbing, and roadway paving will be improved. Designs are underway with phased construction planned for next summer and full completion projected for Fall 2024.

Ferst Drive Realignment and Cycle Track
Realignment of Ferst Drive at Regents Drive will allow the elimination of the traffic signal and enable connectivity to the planned bicycle infrastructure southwest of campus. A cycle track will be installed along Ferst Drive, providing improved safety and separation between cycles and buses at the bus stops. This project is also in the design phase, with construction planned for next summer.

This project is being coordinated with Gilbane as limited access to their site will be required for certain portions of the pipe replacement.

We have coordinated this effort with the GTFSO, GT Parking & Transportation and are in the process of working with the occupants of JS Coon to accommodate their two (2) reserved parking spaces for visitor parking.

The lot will resume normal parking after August 26^th, but there will be temporary cooling equipment in the lot until a project slated for the February-March ’23 timeframe commences to move the building onto the CHW loop. Updates about this future project will be forthcoming.

During this time, the entrance and exit gates, as well as visitor pay stations, at the W02 Student Center Parking Deck will not be operational. Annual W02 permit holders, including those with SmartPark and Flex permits, will continue to park as normal. Visitors will need to pay for parking upon arrival to the garage using ParkMobile Zone 8631. During this time, the Charge Point electric vehicle chargers in the W02 lot will also not be operational.

Currently, contractors are not anticipating disruption to cell phone coverage. More information will be provided if the situation changes.

Pending weather, the project is expected to be complete in early August. Any delays to the completion date will be reported to the community as needed.

The work includes interior renovations at Brown, Cloudman, Harris, Harrison, Howell, and Smith, and exterior utility and landscape work in the vicinity of both Cloudman and Smith, respectively.  Additionally, there may be some very short-term lane closures of the northbound lane of Techwood, to be scheduled at a later date.

Additionally, the City of Atlanta will mill and pave Hemphill Avenue between Ninth Street and Ferst Drive between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12. Both lanes of Hemphill Avenue will be closed to through traffic.

Police, flaggers, and signage will be on site to direct traffic at both locations. Thank you for your patience during the final stages of this campus infrastructure improvement.

What: The contractor will connect an existing water main from a valve near the bus stop next to the transit hub to the meter vault in the landscape area on the west side of Weber (see attached aerial view).

Construction Start Date: Monday, February 14^th, 2022

Scheduled Construction Completion Date: Friday, March 11^th, 2022

Impact:

• See attached map for pedestrian routing plan. A temporary fence will be erected around the perimeter of the construction zone (shown in red). All doors to and from the building will remain open. Crosswalks in Ferst Drive will remain open.
• The westbound dedicated bike lane will remain open.

During this time, the campus community will not be able to pass between the buildings as utility work is completed and the existing sidewalk between the buildings is replaced. Additionally, the east door of Smithgall will be closed until work concludes. Access to both Smithgall and the Ferst Center for the Arts will be maintained. No other impacts are anticipated.

While this delay does not change the overall completion deadline for the project, the diversion of the pathway is expected to last for several weeks. • North Campus Parking Deck vehicular and pedestrian circulation will not be affected.
• Pedestrian access between Atlantic Drive and State Street will be via Peachtree Place (north side of parking deck).
