{"505461":{"#nid":"505461","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Staff Council, Faculty Governance Seek Committee Volunteers","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003ENo matter your role on campus, there are opportunities to get involved in the operations of working at Georgia Tech.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EBoth Faculty Governance and Staff Council are looking for volunteers to serve on a number of committees that shape life at Tech.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Ch4\u003EStaff\u003C\/h4\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/staffcouncil.gatech.edu\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EStaff Council\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E is looking to fill positions on all five of its standing committees, covering the areas of campus physical environment; communication; compensation and benefits; employee engagement; and employee health and well being.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThe reach of Staff Council is only as far as the breadth and depth of its committee members,\u201d said Debbie Dorsey, Staff Council chair.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EInterested Georgia Tech staff members should apply online \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/staffcouncil.gatech.edu\/CommitteeApplication\u0022\u003Ehere\u003C\/a\u003E by Friday, March 4. To be qualified to serve, staff should\u003Cstrong\u003E:\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EBe a full-time or part-time (at least 20 hours per week) staff member.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EHave completed six months of service to Georgia Tech as of March 4, 2016.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EBe employed with an eligible staff title. The following staff titles are ineligible to serve on the Council and thereby ineligible to serve on committees: Institute president, executive vice presidents, provost, vice presidents, associate vice presidents, dean of students, academic faculty, research faculty, and retirees.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EHave support of their supervisor.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EBe able to spend three to five hours per month on committee work.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003EEach committee will have between eight and 12 members plus the committee chair.
