For the Kids Recruiting for Annual Dance Marathon Fundraiser

On March 5, Georgia Tech’s For the Kids student organization hopes to have a thousand people from the Tech community gather in the Student Center to support children who have been or are currently being treated at Atlanta area children’s hospitals.

Once again hosting its annual Dance Marathon event, For the Kids is inviting participation from across the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, and even their family members. The event is a fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Some of the children and families who benefit from these organizations will be at the event.

“It’s a stress-free break, there’s free food, and you actually get to see where the money goes by meeting some of the families,” said Emma Mihevc, a biomedical engineering major and recruitment co-chair for the organization.

Last year, the Tech community raised more than $100,000 through Dance Marathon. This year’s event lasts from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, but participants can stop in for all or part of the event.

The “dance” in Dance Marathon comes once an hour, when attendees take a few minutes to learn part of a choreographed dance. At the end of the event, everyone does the full dance together, and the event segues into an hour-long dance party.

For the Kids is raising awareness in the coming weeks on Fridays around campus.

To join, start a team, or learn more, visit www.forthekidsgt.com or www.tinyurl.com/GTDM2016.
