{"499511":{"#nid":"499511","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Georgia Tech Accreditation Reaffirmed by SACSCOC","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) recently completed its 10-year review and has reaffirmed Georgia Tech\u2019s accreditation.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EStarted in June 2013, the accreditation reaffirmation process has taken the Institute through a detailed \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.news.gatech.edu\/2014\/09\/15\/sacscoc-compliance-self-study-completed\u0022\u003Eself-study\u003C\/a\u003E, the development of the current \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/serve-learn-sustain.gatech.edu\u0022\u003EQuality Enhancement Plan (QEP)\u003C\/a\u003E and will conclude with the completion of two monitoring reports.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe monitoring reports will respond to two recommendations from the board regarding institutional effectiveness in the areas of educational programs, including student learning outcomes, and administrative support services. Both recommendations seek to measure Georgia Tech\u2019s internal methods for the identification, assessment and improvement in the achievement of stated outcomes in these areas.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cWe are pleased to have received reaffirmation of our accreditation,\u201d said Rafael L. Bras, provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs. \u201cWhat we learned in the process, and the decision, confirms the value and quality of a Georgia Tech education. We also identified opportunities of improvement. We have much to be proud of.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn response to these recommendations, the Office of the Provost has devised an Academic Effectiveness Strategy for the near-term. This support structure includes our SACSCOC liaison, Catherine Murray-Rust, dean of libraries and vice provost for academic effectiveness, the Office of Assessment, as well as the academic units. We are pleased to also have the leadership and guidance of Sandi Bramblett who will provide centralized coordination and oversight.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cMoving forward, the partnership between these entities is critical and will serve to maximize institutional effectiveness,\u201d said Bras. \u201cThrough their coordination, we can continually look inward at our processes, and take corrective action or change course as necessary. We are appreciative of the expertise and leadership Sandi can bring to our overall academic effectiveness strategy.\u201d\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESACSCOC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states.
