Helms is currently working on modeling school interventions as complex social systems. His background is in cognitive science, design theory, education research, technology consulting and financial services. He earned a doctorate in computer science from Georgia Tech in 2013, and recently completed the National Science Foundation\u0027s entrepreneurial I-CORPS program as an entrepreneurial lead focused on customer discovery and business model development. Prior to his doctorate, Helms worked as a consultant building business cases for the development of large data infrastructure projects.
