The project, managed by the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/cos.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ECollege of Sciences\u003C\/a\u003E, \u0026nbsp;is a unique interdisciplinary undergraduate research and education program focused on the impact of urban habitats on honey bees.\u0026nbsp;Georgia Tech recently received \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.beecityusa.org\/news--events\/georgia-tech-named-2nd-bee-campus-usa\u0022\u003Ecertification\u003C\/a\u003E as an affiliate of Bee Campus USA, a program that aims to harness the strengths of educational campuses to benefit pollinators. The Georgia Tech campus is only the second in the U.S. to achieve this status.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ECandace Wheeler of WABE 90.1 FM visited the hives, on the roof of the \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/clough.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EClough Undergraduate Learning Commons\u003C\/a\u003E, under the careful guidance of honeybee expert and project director Jennifer Leavey and Anne Boykin-Smith, a master planner for Georgia Tech Capital Planning and Space Management and a hobbyist beekeeper.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIronically, yellow jackets (wasps) are not nice to bees; they prey on bees.
