New Cyber Security Training Coming this Spring

As part of an ongoing educational campaign from Georgia Tech’s Cyber Security team to help ensure that all employees – faculty, staff, and student workers – are aware of best practices for safe computing, employees will now be required by the Institute to participate in cyber security training beginning this spring. This mandatory, annual training for all Georgia Tech employees will be included in the Institute’s annual Ethics and Conflict of Interest Compliance Campaign that begins March 7 and ends April 8.

“Georgia Tech’s systems maintain data ranging from student grades to classified research,” says Jimmy Lummis, associate director of Cyber Security. “It is important to conduct this type of training across the campus community to help ensure we all know how to play our part in protecting this sensitive information.”

As part of the yearly training requirements, Georgia Tech employees will have to participate in an online tutorial and confirm their understanding of the material covered. Employees should expect to spend 10 minutes completing both parts of the cyber security training. Details, including access to the training portal, will be available beginning March 7 at “My Compliance Campaigns” on the TechWorks website. Employees who do not comply by April 8 may receive a formal disciplinary notice from the Institute, and their access to the Georgia Tech network may be revoked.

For more information, contact Jimmy Lummis at jimmy.lummis@security.gatech.edu.
