Open to faculty, staff, and students, this request for proposals will be part of an annual cycle to coincide with fiscal year budgeting. Through its newly established process, the Advisory Group will have responsibility for review of submitted concepts.

The principal role of the Advisory Group is facilitation, said Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor David Frost. “The provision of funds is just one means of support we can provide,” he said. “Georgia Tech is a large and diverse institution, and there are good examples of cross-campus collaboration on strategic initiatives. We hope there will be additional value in fostering connections between new ideas and existing initiatives.”

In May 2013, President G. P. “Bud” Peterson appointed a group of faculty and staff to work alongside Institute leaders to continue the implementation of the strategies and goals outlined in the strategic plan. The group serves to keep the discussion of strategic issues at the forefront and provides counsel to Institute leadership on the plan’s effectiveness and impact.

SPAG will review concept proposals and submit its recommendations for funding to the Executive Leadership Team by mid-April. New funds will be available beginning July 1, 2016.
