{"48984":{"#nid":"48984","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Administration and Finance Organizational Structure to Streamline Institute Resources","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EWith the new year, Executive Vice\nPresident for Administration and Finance Steven Swant has announced the first\nquarter of 2010 will see some changes to realign existing functions to better\nsupport the Institute\u2019s mission and strategic direction. As a first step, a\nnational search was initiated on Jan. 8 to fill the currently open position of\nthe senior vice president for Administration and Finance. \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\u003Cp\u003EPreviously held and presently\nadministrated by Swant, this position has an expanded scope and will oversee\nthe Institute\u2019s Office of Financial Services, Real Estate Development and the\nInstitute Strategic Resource Management Office (ISRM).\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003EWithin this framework, Institute\nBudget and Planning, Institutional Research and Planning, Capital Planning and\nSpace Management, Environmental Stewardship and Organizational Development will\nbe organized into ISRM, enabling their more efficient support of the Office of\nthe President. \u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003EWith this change, the remaining\nAdministration and Finance units also will have a new structure, mostly in the\nchain of reporting relationships, to better align offices with the Institute\u2019s\noverall mission of teaching, research and economic development. \u201cThe structure\nand approach reflects the importance of strategy, people, partnerships and\ntechnology to achieving this mission,\u201d Swant said. \u201cThis realignment will allow\nus to better focus on providing enhanced executive support to the Office of the\nPresident, increase our organizational effectiveness and capabilities, and\nprovide tighter planning and financial integration.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003EWhile Swant currently has 12 direct\nreports, the realignment streamlines this to seven reporting positions. In\naddition to the senior vice president, the others include vice president of\nCampus Services, associate vice president of Facilities, associate vice\npresident of Information Technology, and the associate vice president over\nenterprise risk management and public safety groups. These join the senior\ndirector of Special Projects in Information Technology and the assistant vice\npresident of Administration and Finance.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003EAdministration and Finance offices\nand departments will be realigned according to these categories. Auxiliary\nServices, Business Services and Human Resources will report to the vice\npresident of Campus Services. Rosalind Meyers, formerly the associate vice\npresident for Auxiliary Services, has been named to this position. A search\nwill begin in the spring for an associate vice president candidate for the\nenterprise risk management and public safety group.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\n\n\n\u003Cp\u003E\u201cOur goal is to create more\nflexibility and allow for more attention on key areas identified by the study\nas opportunities for growth and investment,\u201d Swant said. These changes will be\nimplemented throughout the first quarter of 2010.
