{"454351":{"#nid":"454351","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Financial Management Training Program Coming This Fall","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EA new online training program, Financial Management Knowledge Development, will soon be available for all Georgia Tech employees who have financial administration responsibilities.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe goal of the program, developed by the Institute\u2019s financial subject matter experts, in collaboration with Human Resource\u2019s Workplace Learning and Professional Development group, is to help all members of Georgia Tech\u2019s financial community enhance their knowledge of Tech\u2019s dynamic business operations and management processes. Essentially, the idea is to better equip employees to navigate the complexities of Tech\u2019s business processes, so they can contribute to the effective and responsible stewardship of Georgia Tech resources.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESeveral of the training courses were successfully piloted over the summer with those who hold financial administration responsibilities at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI).\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0022I found the training program to be really practical. It provided me an opportunity to refresh and expand my knowledge of Tech\u2019s financial operations \u2014\u0026nbsp;something we all can benefit from,\u201d said Julie Stoverink, an assistant director of Financial Operations at GTRI. \u201cIt was interactive, informative, and offered several realistic scenarios for everyday application.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Financial Management Knowledge Development series consists of two tracks. The first series, the Financial Fundamentals Training Program, is designed to build a strong knowledge base of Georgia Tech\u2019s financial operations and management processes. The series is targeted toward all employees with a financial role and covers a variety of topics including basic accounting, the procure-to-pay process, human resources, payroll, and travel and expenses. Employees are required to complete four core finance courses and pass a brief comprehension assessment. Additional, more targeted, courses will become available depending on an employee\u2019s title and access rights to Georgia Tech\u2019s financial systems.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe second track, the Extramural Sponsored Training Program, builds on this foundation and provides training to employees involved in the financial or contractual management of grants and contracts. This series offers in-depth training as it relates to issues such as the regulatory environment, proposal development, and closeout.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe pilot program will continue this fall within the campus financial community.
