Georgia Tech is the affiliate partner for \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.firstinspires.org\/robotics\/fll\u0022\u003E\u003Cem\u003EFIRST\u003C\/em\u003E LEGO League Challenge\u003C\/a\u003E with the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ceismc.gatech.edu\u0022\u003ECenter for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC)\u003C\/a\u003E facilitating the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/fll.ceismc.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003Eprogram\u003C\/a\u003E for the state of Georgia. \u003Cem\u003EFIRST\u003C\/em\u003E LEGO League introduces STEM learning to children ages 4-16 through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem-solving experiences through a guided global robotics program using LEGO technology, helping today\u2019s students, families, and educators build a better future together.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EParticipating workshop teachers focused on building student STEM skills in preparation for participating in the \u003Cem\u003EFIRST\u003C\/em\u003E LEGO League Challenge competition. The workshop focused on teaching students coding and other current STEM skills needed to participate in the competition as well as launch students into high-tech careers in their communities.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cWith so many manufacturers and high-tech opportunities opening in Southwest Georgia, it\u2019s important to have students engaging now in building the skills they will need to get those good, high-paying industry jobs in the near future,\u201d said Danyelle Larkin, director of K-12 InVenture Prize. \u201cWe see this program as an anchor for the region, establishing a STEM school-to-manufacturing pathway that will strengthen the communities in this part of the state. So, yes, this is a robotics competition, but it is really more than that. It\u2019s something that has the potential to uplift entire communities. FLL introduces youth ages 9 to 14 to the fun and excitement of science and technology while building their self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills.\u202f Although\u0026nbsp;the program involves LEGO robotics, FLL goes a step further, with teams examining real-life problems and developing innovative solutions. During this year\u0026rsquo;s tournament, student teams will be tackling the issue of sustainable energy.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\u003C\/div\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cdiv\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESince 2003, Georgia Tech has been an Affiliate Partner for \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/fll.gatech.edu\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EFIRST LEGO League\u003C\/a\u003E. CEISMC, as a Program Delivery Partner, facilitates the initiative\u0026nbsp;for the Georgia region and hosts the state championship. \u0026ldquo;FIRST LEGO\u0026nbsp;League Challenge is a way to encourage students at an early age to explore various aspects of technology, identify and research actual technical problems and develop solutions.
