{"453761":{"#nid":"453761","#data":{"type":"event","title":"The Georgia Tech Piano Project: Exploring Creative Sustainability","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThis\u0026nbsp;unique initiative includes a co-curricular plan to\u0026nbsp;connect civic engagement, the arts, mental health, and\u0026nbsp;industrial design through fun, playable pianos\u0026nbsp;located across campus. The project was inspired\u0026nbsp;by British artist\u2019s Play Me I\u2019m Yours installation that\u0026nbsp;encourages the public to engage with, activate, and\u0026nbsp;take ownership of their urban environment. A small\u0026nbsp;group of faculty and staff have taken this idea a few\u0026nbsp;steps further with The Piano Project! The goal is to\u0026nbsp;encourage student wellness and engagement in the\u0026nbsp;arts by providing playable pianos for students to\u0026nbsp;enjoy in select locations across campus, while also\u0026nbsp;offering an Industrial Design learning experience in\u0026nbsp;the process. The pianos will come to us from the\u0026nbsp;Habitat for Humanity ReStore, allowing the Georgia\u0026nbsp;Tech community to give new life to an old piano while\u0026nbsp;connecting with a community service partner, the\u0026nbsp;Habitat for Humanity. A select group of industrial\u0026nbsp;design students will further explore how design can\u0026nbsp;invigorate areas as they propose locations and graphic\u0026nbsp;designs for more pianos on campus.
