Inman Jr. Professor in Economics.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe reception honoring Ghosal was held at the Georgia Tech Library. Georgia Tech Provost Rafael Bras and Ivan Allen College Dean Jacqueline Royster made remarks, as did\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.iac.gatech.edu\/community\/ivanallencollegeday\/distinguishedalumniawards\/inman\u0022\u003ERichard B. \u201cRick\u0022 Inman Jr.\u003C\/a\u003E, co-founder and managing principal of Atlanta-based Iron Bridge Capital Partners and an alumnus (ECON 1973) who, with his wife, \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.iac.gatech.edu\/news-events\/stories\/199301\u0022\u003Eendowed the professorship\u003C\/a\u003E in 2013.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0022Mary and I are pleased to support the School of Economics through this endowment,\u201d said Inman. \u201cWe hope our support will help promote the outstanding research activity of faculty members like\u0026nbsp;Dr. Vivek Ghosal, increase the research reputation of the School and\u0026nbsp;stimulate collaborative\u0026nbsp;research\u0026nbsp;efforts with other departments at Georgia Tech. As chairman of the SOE advisory board, I hope this gift will play a role in shaping the future of the School\u0026nbsp;and inspire others to make similar investments.\u0022\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EProfessor Ghosal joined the School of Economics faculty in 2001. His current research and policy interests include firm strategy related to innovation, mergers and acquisitions and pricing;\u0026nbsp;impact of environmental regulations on business strategy, innovation and firm reorganization; firms\u2019 decision-making under uncertainty; antitrust\/competition laws and enforcement; and regulatory reform to enhance competition and innovation. His research has been awarded funding from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD, Paris); the U.S. Department of Transportation; the Georgia Department of Transportation; \u003Cem\u003ERagnar S\u00f6derberg Foundation\u003C\/em\u003E (Sweden); Robert W. Woodruff Foundation; Center for Paper Business and Industry Studies; and Scripps Howard Foundation. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EGhosal holds visiting professor appointments at the European Business School (Wiesbaden, Germany) and at the joint OECD-Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management. He has published two edited books,\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003EThe Political Economy of Antitrust\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;(Elsevier, 2007) and \u003Cem\u003EReforming Rules and Regulations: Laws, Institutions and Implementation\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;(MIT Press, 2010), and is a member of the editorial board of the journals\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003EReview of Industrial Organization\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;and\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003EBusiness Strategy and the Environment\u003C\/em\u003E. He has published extensively in the leading peer-reviewed journals in economics, management, and law and economics. \u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Inman Professorship advanced the Campaign Georgia Tech goal of establishing 100 new endowed chairs. SOE Chair David Laband emphasized the significance of the Inman\u2019s contribution.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0022With this Professorship, Rick and Mary\u0026nbsp;Inman have provided critical support and leadership that helps\u0026nbsp;the School of Economics\u0027 efforts to develop and sustain a nationally prominent academic program.\u0022\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAmong those attending the reception were SOE Board of Advisors members Rich House, Jr. (ECON 1985) who is the managing director at Joe Mack Ventures LLC\u0026nbsp;and chairs the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts advisory board;\u0026nbsp;Joe Owens (ECON 1977) who is chief financial officer for Indego Africa;\u0026nbsp;and John Wylder (ECON 1973).
