{"448951":{"#nid":"448951","#data":{"type":"news","title":"LMC featured in Sci Fi Issue of Georgia Tech\u2019s Alumni Magazine","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EScience fiction is sometimes called \u201cthe literature of engineers,\u201d and so it is no surprise that Georgia Tech has support SF classes and events since the early 1970s\u2014or that LMC-based science fiction faculty, students, and alumni feature heavily in September issue of Georgia Tech\u2019s alumni magazine, \u201cHow Tech Helps Make Sci Fi Become Reality.\u201d Features of special note include an interview with SF author and Professor of the Practice Kathleen Ann Goonan, an essay exploring \u201cwhy science fiction is important\u201d by STAC alum Jason Ellis, a feature on the Sci Fi Lab Radio Show featuring DM grad student Travis Gasque, and interviews about LMC\u2019s new science fiction minor with professors Lisa Yaszke and Jay Telotte.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe special issue aims to excite readers about all the fantastic, future-oriented projects that faculty are engaged in at Georgia Tech. In particular, the editors wanted to capture the fact that Tech is unique in that we both create and study the future here!
