Flu shots will also be available to students that have not paid their health fee, faculty, and staff for $25.00.\u0026nbsp; Cash is not accepted so please bring a credit card or your BuzzCard for payment. Faculty\/staff may call 404-894-1420\u0026nbsp;for an appointment.\u0026nbsp; \u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EIf you have an appointment to see a provider, just ask to have your flu shot given while you are at Stamps Health Services.\u0026nbsp; Any of the nursing personnel will be happy to administer the shot for you at this time.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ol\u003EInfluenza or \u201cthe flu\u201d is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It is a serious threat to public health and can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.\u0026nbsp;\u003Cul dir=\u0022ltr\u0022\u003E\u003Cli\u003EVaccines for the\u0026nbsp;2015-2016 influenza season are approved by FDA for the prevention of influenza in children, adolescents, and adults, including the elderly.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EThere are several vaccines approved by FDA available in both nasal spray and injectable (a \u201cshot\u201d) forms.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp; SHS only administers the injectable flu vaccine.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EThe 2015-2016 seasonal influenza vaccine that Stamps Health Services is administering is a quadrivalent vaccine meaning it includes four strains. You may not have enough immunity to be protected from getting sick this season.
