Origami bridge

Origami bridge

This origami bridge is made by combining multiple zippered tubes. Though made from paper, it can support a significant load. The structure could serve as a model for full-sized bridges that could be folded for delivery to disaster areas and then quickly expanded to full size. (Credit: Rob Felt, Georgia Tech)
