His previous work includes four best-selling books:\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003E7 Lessons for Leading in Crisis,\u0026nbsp;True North,\u0026nbsp;Finding Your True North, and\u0026nbsp;Authentic Leadership\u003C\/em\u003E.\u0026nbsp; With co-author Doug Baker he published\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003ETrue North Groups\u003C\/em\u003E. His newest collection includes \u003Cem\u003EDiscover Your True North\u003C\/em\u003E and \u003Cem\u003EDiscover Your True North Fieldbook\u003C\/em\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EMr. George is the former chairman and chief executive officer of Medtronic.\u0026nbsp; Mr. George currently serves as director of ExxonMobil, Goldman Sachs, and the Mayo Clinic and also served on the board of Novartis and Target Corporation.\u0026nbsp; He is currently a trustee of the World Economic Forum USA and Guthrie Theater and a former Trustee of Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. \u0026nbsp;He has served as board chair for Allina Health System, Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, United Way of the Greater Twin Cities, and Advamed.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EHe was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2012.\u0026nbsp; He has been named one of \u0022Top 25 Business Leaders of the Past 25 Years\u0022 by PBS; \u0022Executive of the Year-2001\u0022 by the Academy of Management; and \u0022Director of the Year-2001-02\u0022 by the National Association of Corporate Directors. \u0026nbsp;Mr. George has made frequent appearances on television and radio and his articles have appeared in\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003EWall Street Journal,\u003C\/em\u003E\u003Cem\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/em\u003E\u003Cem\u003EBusiness Week,\u003C\/em\u003E\u003Cem\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/em\u003E\u003Cem\u003EFortune,\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003EHarvard Business Review,\u003C\/em\u003E\u003Cem\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/em\u003Eand numerous publications.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EMr. George received his BSIE with high honors from Georgia Tech, his MBA with high distinction from Harvard University, where he was a Baker Scholar, and honorary PhDs from Georgia Tech, Bryant University, and University of St. Thomas. \u0026nbsp;During 2002-03 he was professor at IMD International and Ecole Polytechnique in Lausanne, Switzerland, and executive-in-residence at Yale School of Management.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EBill George will speak at Georgia Tech\u0027s\u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/scheller.gatech.edu\/centers-initiatives\/ile\/impact\/index.html\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003E\u0026nbsp;IMPACT Speaker Series\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;on Thursday, October 15, 2015.
