Jumpstart is a national early education organization that recruits and trains college students and community volunteers to work with preschool children in low-income neighborhoods. Through a proven curriculum, these children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for school, setting them on a path to close the achievement gap before it is too late.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EJumpstart Corps members have the unique opportunity to inspire young children to learn, serve in a local community, work on a team, and build professional skills. All Corps members receive professional-caliber training to help them implement Jumpstart\u2019s outcome-based program, promote children\u2019s school success, and build family involvement.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;Corps members complete an intensive commitment and make a substantial impact in the life of a young child. During the school year, Corps members participate in the following activities:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EServe part-time, 8-12 hours per week, during the school year, including:\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EJumpstart sessions with team and small groups of children, 4 hours per week (two sessions per week for two hours each)\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ETeam planning meetings and session preparation, which includes planning, reflection, and\/or training, 2-3 hours per week\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003E2\u0026nbsp; hours each week in a preschool classroom during the regular school day\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003E1 hour of individual planning and preparation for Jumpstart sessions\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003ECommunicate with children\u2019s family\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EParticipate in intensive pre-service and on-going trainings\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EAttend periodic service days, often held on weekends\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EJoin us to work toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed.
