393191 news 1427968572 1475896678 <![CDATA[Pollock Receives Lavender Award for LGBTQIA Faculty/Staff Leadership]]> Anne Pollock has been named a recipient of the inaugural Lavender Award honoring faculty and staff members who have made significant contributions to the LGBTQIA communities at Georgia Tech throughout the past year.

The Lavender Awards, presented by the LGBTQIA Resource Center, recognize individuals, departments, and organizations that have made Georgia Tech a safer and more inclusive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and asexual students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

In addition to the Faculty/Staff Leadership Award, awards for Outstanding Allyship, Student Leadership, and Alum of the Year will be conferred upon recipients at the annual Lavender Graduation ceremony on Thursday, April 16, 2015.

Anne Pollock is an associate professor of science, technology and culture in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication and coordinator of the graduate certificate in Science, Technology and Society. Her research and teaching focus on biomedicine and culture, theories of race and gender, and how science and medicine are mobilized in social justice projects. She is particularly interested in how medical categories and technologies are enrolled in telling stories about identity and difference, especially with regard to race, gender, and citizenship.
