{"388521":{"#nid":"388521","#data":{"type":"event","title":"Pre-Teaching Summer Undergraduate Research Experience application deadline","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EPRE-TEACHING SUMMER UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH EXPERIENCE\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Pre-Teaching Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (PT-SURE) is a paid research experience in a Georgia Tech laboratory for undergraduate students interested in pursuing a career in secondary (grades 6-12) education. Participants will also have the opportunity to broaden their understanding of laboratory research and research methods. The program is in conjunction with the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.ceismc.gatech.ed\/\u0022\u003ECenter for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC)\u003C\/a\u003E and the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.ceismc.gatech.edu\/gift\u0022\u003EGeorgia Intern Fellowships for Teachers (GIFT)\u003C\/a\u003E program that brings middle and high school Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) teachers together with researchers and graduate students in Georgia Tech laboratories. The goal of the GIFT program is to provide teachers summer STEM internships in university research laboratories and industry workplaces so that they can develop curriculum and lesson plans for the school year that integrate real world applications. PT-SURE students become an integral part of this development process over the course of the summer.
