My name is Jerry Gourdin and I am a postdoc in the CHBE department. I hope that your semester went well. At past events like the Postdoc Meetups, there has been some discussion about doing other activities. One of those mentioned was to go on a hike before the hot summer weather strikes. So we have decided to plan one for Saturday the 13th. 

The destination is Red Top Mountain State Park and it is about 35-40 miles (40 minutes) from GaTech/Atlanta. There are several options there ranging from 2 miles to 5.5 miles. More information can be found on the website.  

 
I think we should plan on meeting in Tech Square and then leaving before 10:30 am. Now I have a vehicle which can seat 3-4 others, besides myself. I am hoping that other postdocs will still join so that transportation is not a problem. As the date approaches we will assess the situation and then plan accordingly.

The NIH funded Atlanta Broadening Experiences in Scientific Training (BEST) Program has been established to help Emory and Georgia Tech PhD students and postdocs in the biological, biomedical, and bio-focused STEM fields explore career paths beyond faculty positions.
