Housing will hold information sessions in the coming weeks for all students who are interested. Those interested in applying must attend one session, which will provide an overview of the peer leader application process.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ETrevor Vannucci, a second-year architecture major, shares his experiences and duties as a peer leader this year.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat made you want to be a freshman dorm peer leader (PL)?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EWhen I was a freshman, I had an excellent PL who did a great job of pulling our hall together and making everyone\u2019s freshman experience the best it could be. I wanted to be able to do that for another group guys coming through Tech.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat is your favorite part of being a PL?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EOne of the most rewarding parts of the job is having a group of guys who look up to you and feel comfortable coming to you with problems that they might experience during their first year.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat are some of your duties and responsibilities?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAs part of the job, PLs are in charge of move in and move out procedures, and being \u201con duty\u201d during the year, which entails walking the halls of the dorms, handling lock outs, and making sure all the residents are OK. However, the biggest part of the job is being there for your residents and helping them get through their first year on an everyday basis.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat would you say is the most difficult part of being a PL?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EBeing a PL isn\u2019t a difficult job, in fact it is mostly just a rewarding experience. I\u2019d say the only drawback is that it\u2019s not the type of job that you walk away from at the end of the day. You\u2019re on call 24\/7 in case one of your residents has an issue that they need your help with.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EIf you could give one piece of advice to anyone applying for a PL or RA positions, what would it be?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThink of it less as a job and more of a chance to help people accommodate to college life, it\u2019ll be a much more fun experience.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E","summary":null,"format":"limited_html"}],"field_subtitle":"","field_summary":"","field_summary_sentence":[{"value":"The GT Housing department interviews and hires students for PL and RA positions.
