Inside is a spectacular collection of Islamic art. It\u2019s the first museum of its kind in North America and visitors from all over the world are flying there to see the treasures inside.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Aga Khan Museum opened on September 18, 2014 and contains over one thousand artifacts and artworks and spans over one thousand years of history. The objects\u2014in ceramic, metalwork, ivory, stone and wood, textile and carpet, glass and rock crystal objects, parchment and illustrated paintings on paper\u2014present an overview of the artistic accomplishments of Muslim civilisations from the Iberian Peninsula to China.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ERoyster, Horner, and Headlee discuss the impact this and similar showcases of historical artifacts have on contemporary culture and the importance of preserving such objects.
