Biomolecular transport, amplification reaction and sequence specific identification define some of the key aspects of these assays. We will give some examples to illustrate these aspects. First, we will present two novel microfluidic reactors for the detection of target RNA/DNA molecules. Following this, we will show critical aspects of isolation and separation of biomolecules using a mobile magnetic bead based platform without any use of external flow system. Lastly, we will present the dispersion of molecules in a microchannel as they undergo a DNA amplification reaction that is driven by temporally changing temperatures. The results of this study enhance our understanding of transport in microscale systems in diverse areas relevant to micro-reactor design and DNA amplification.

ChBE hosts a weekly seminar throughout the year with invited lecturers who are prominent in their fields.

Amy Schneider
School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering
(404) 385-2299
info@chbe.gatech.edu
