From now through Dec. 5, the Collegiate Panhellenic Council and Student Government Association will co-host Prom-A-Palooza, a prom dress drive benefiting the Foster Care Support Foundation.

President G.P. "Bud" Peterson and First Lady Val Peterson have worked with the organization for nearly six years.

"This organization is near and dear to our hearts," said Val Peterson. "Prom-A-Palooza is a magical event that lets deserving young women who have had bad breaks in life be able to shine on their prom night."

Donations of any prom-related items — such as dresses, shoes, purses, and jewelry, are encouraged, and can be taken to the Greek Affairs office in Room 141 of the Student Services (Flag) Building.  

Non-prom clothing is also being collected for the Compassionate Clothing Drive. This drive is accepting new and gently used blankets and winter clothing — such as coats, sweaters, scarves, hats, gloves, and socks — for men, women, and children who are homeless in Atlanta. The effort is organized by the Catholic Center, Muslim Students Association, Theta Xi, Vibha, Wesley Foundation, Community Service Council, the Presidents Council Governing Board, Student Center, and Student Government Association.

Donations can be taken to the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement (room 2211 in the Student Center Commons) or lobby of the Smithgall Student Services (Flag) Building. The drive ends Dec. 4.
