The two state legislators are currently Co-Chairs of the Joint Study Committee on Critical Transportation Infrastructure Funding. The\u0026nbsp;Committee has met several times since the 2014 legislative session to address new sources and methods of funding transportation projects to\u0026nbsp;keep up with the needs of the state\u0027s population. The Chairmen will provide an update on the Committee\u0027s work and address the critical need for\u0026nbsp;transportation solutions to support Georgia\u0027s economic competitiveness.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p2\u0022\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p3\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EAbout the speakers\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p3\u0022\u003ERepresentative Jay Roberts\u0026nbsp;is the Chairman of the House Transportation Committee and represents the 154th district. Born and raised in Irwin\u0026nbsp;County, Representative Jay Roberts attended ABAC for 2 years before graduating from Valdosta State University with a degree in Criminal Justice.\u0026nbsp;He played baseball at both schools. He and his wife, Sarah, have 2 children, Justin and Jana. Serving since 2003 in the Georgia State House of\u0026nbsp;Representatives, Representative Roberts serves on several legislative committees in addition to his appointment as Chairman of the House\u0026nbsp;Transportation Committee.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p2\u0022\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p3\u0022\u003ESenator Steve Gooch\u0026nbsp;was elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2010 and represents the 51st District. He serves as the Secretary of the Majority\u0026nbsp;Caucus in the Georgia State Senate and as Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee. Senator Gooch graduated from North Georgia College\u0026nbsp;and State University where he earned a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Business Administration and a Master\u2019s Degree in Public Administration.
