He also will serve two other roles: associate director of the Renewable Bioproducts Institute (RBI)/Pulp and Paper and director of the Georgia Tech Professional Education Industry Strategic Partnerships/Professional Masters in Manufacturing Leadership.

Luettgen has 25 years of industry experience, including 19 years at Kimberly-Clark Corp., where he most recently served as senior research and engineering manager for the Kimberly-Clark Professional business sector. He has held positions in product development and innovation as well as in capital project management and manufacturing facility leadership.

“I am thrilled that Chris is joining us in RBI and ChBE,” said David Sholl, ChBE chair. “His extensive industrial experience and connections will be invaluable to making our strong programs in renewable bioproducts and pulp and paper even better.”

For several years, Luettgen has served on the RBI Industry Board of Advisors, and he is the current vice chairman of the Technical Association of the Pulp & Paper Industry. He earned his master’s degree at the Institute of Paper Chemistry and his Ph.D. at the Institute of Paper Science and Technology.

This background in and familiarity with the field of pulp, paper and tissue were key considerations for his new role, which is part of the planned growth and expanded mission of the Renewable Bioproducts Institute.
