{"333431":{"#nid":"333431","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Tracking Your Way to Multicultural Competence- The Next Steps","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe Division of Student Affairs will host a Multicultural Competence (MC) workshop with Dr. Amy Reynolds this Tuesday, October 14, 2014.\u0026nbsp; The Division started it\u2019s initial efforts in May 2010 with a full-day workshop conducted by Dr. Amy Reynolds who co-authored the book, \u003Cem\u003EMulticultural Competence in Student Affairs.\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp; \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/mcc.gatech.edu\/uploads\/files\/2010___Student_Affairs_Core_Competencies_Pope_Reynolds_%28_1997%292.pdf\u0022\u003EHere is the link to the summary article for that book.\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAs a result of this first full-day workshop the Division formed a Multicultural Competence Committee co-chaired by Dr. Toti Perez and Dean Stephanie Ray.\u0026nbsp; The original committee developed \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/mcc.gatech.edu\/content\/11\/multicultural-competence-strategic-plan\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003Ethe MC Strategic Plan\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThrough the good work of the MC Committee a three-level Multicultural Competence Certificate was developed to address staff \u003Cem\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EParticipation, Engagement, and Action. \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/em\u003EThe workshop this coming Tuesday does count towards the certificate in lieu of MC 101.
