Staff Council nominations will be open from Sept. 29 \u2013 Oct. 10, with elections planned from Nov. 3 \u2013 14.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p3\u0022\u003E\u201cOur primary goal after forming the interim council was to extend this election opportunity to the greater staff,\u201d said Christie Stewart, associate director of Campus Recreation and vice chair of the Staff Council. \u201cThere is a lot of work to be done, and the time is right for staff to get involved and really contribute to this effort.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p3\u0022\u003EActing in an advisory role to the executive and senior leadership, the Staff Council will serve as a conduit for views that represent the greater staff population and provide insight on how decisions regarding policies, procedures, and investments affect this segment of the campus community.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p1\u0022\u003E\u201cExecutive leadership really wants to hear from staff across a variety of perspectives,\u201d said Steve Swant, executive vice president of Administration and Finance. \u201cBy participating in the Staff Council, employees will also learn how Georgia Tech is managed, including how decisions are made \u2014 and that benefits us all. While there is a time commitment involved in participating in the Council, all supervisors are encouraged to support this effort. It is a unique developmental opportunity for staff at Georgia Tech.\u201d\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p1\u0022\u003EThe Staff Council has already formed the following committees through which it will make recommendations to Tech\u2019s executive leadership:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EEmployee Engagement\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EEmployee Health and Well-Being\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ECampus Physical Environment\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ECompensation and Benefits\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ECommunications\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p1\u0022\u003EThe upcoming nomination process requires staff members to nominate themselves or colleagues.\u0026nbsp;To be eligible, staff must have at least one year of consecutive service at Georgia Tech and a staff title as of Sept. 29. They can be full- or part-time employees, as long as they work at least 20 hours a week.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp class=\u0022p2\u0022\u003EStaff will be able to nominate and vote for colleagues in any of the following Job Classification and Compensation System categories:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EAdministrative and Professional: 8 seats\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ESkilled Trades: 5 seats\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EScientific and Research: 2 seats\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EInformation Technology: 1 seat\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EDevelopment: 1 seat\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003EStaff may cast their votes for the nominations and elections at \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.staffcouncil.gatech.edu\u0022\u003Ewww.staffcouncil.gatech.edu\u003C\/a\u003E.
