Associate professor Perry Yang of Georgia Tech\u0027s College of Architecture will co-lead the new lab which will focus on urban modeling, benchmarking the city performance, and studying issues of rapid urban transition. The partnership that began with student and faculty exchanges in 2010 became official following visitations to Shanghai by faculty including the former Dean Alan Balfour, Perry Yang, Richard Dagenhart and Ellen Dunham-Jones as well as the Dean of Georgia Tech\u2019s College of Architecture, Steve French to kick it off in January 2014 in Shanghai. Students will be subject to Tongji admission procedures and academic regulation. Both degree programs require one calendar year and the completion of the master degree thesis at Tongji. Georgia Tech students in the Master of Architecture Program or Master of City and Regional Planning Program can earn the Master of Architecture (MArch) or Master of Urban Planning (MUP) degree from Tongji respectively, in a two-semester program of study (originally designed as a 5 semesters MArch or MUP program.
