The award recognizes local community leaders that have made a significant contribution to Atlanta through French language and culture or by being a global ambassador for the city.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn announcing the award, the AFA noted that Dean Royster\u2019s special service to \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/africaatlanta.org\/\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EAfrica Atlanta 2014\u003C\/a\u003E and the African-Francophone community serves to recast the negative perceptions about Africa by promoting its beauty, people, arts, and culture.
