{"308371":{"#nid":"308371","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Two School of Architecture student projects selected to be part of Art on the Atlanta Beltline exhibit","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003ETwo groups of School of Architecture students will have their spring 2014 projects on display on the Atlanta Beltline starting in November.\u0026nbsp; The \u201cArt on the Atlanta Beltline\u201d competition recently announced the winners of the public art competition that drew entries from over 300 individuals.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cem\u003EAurora\u003C\/em\u003E, a three dimensional graffiti made from re-used materials, was done by School of Architecture undergraduate students Mary Briatta, Steven Fendley, Daniel Kim and Quy Le as part of Assistant Professor Daniel Baerlecken\u2019s spring seminar.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cem\u003EDream Boat\u003C\/em\u003E is an interactive, iridescent seating installationdone by seniors Virginia Bradbury, Catherine Quigley and Marc Whitley at the suggestion of Assistant Professor Tristan al-Haddad.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cWe are thrilled to have our students represented in Atlanta\u2019s largest public art exhibit,\u201d said Richard Dagenhart, interim chair of the School of Architecture. \u201cMaking it through this highly selective and competitive process is a testament to the creativity and talent of our students. I look forward to seeing their final work in place.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Art on the Atlanta BeltLine exhibition began in 2010 with 40 projects. Today, it is the City of Atlanta\u2019s largest temporary public art exhibition, showcasing the work of hundreds of visual artists, performers, and musicians along nine miles of the Atlanta BeltLine corridor.\u0026nbsp; The exhibition showcases how art strengthens and beautifies current and former industrial areas and creates signature spaces exemplifying the transformation of the city through the Atlanta BeltLine. Art on the Atlanta BeltLine touches almost 20 intown communities.
