Associate Dean of Research Nancey Green Leigh to be part of Regional Leadership Initiative 2014 class.

Nancey Green Leigh, associate dean of research and professor in the School of City and Regional Planning, has been selected by the Atlanta Regional Commission to be part of the 2014 class of the Regional Leadership Initiative (RLI).

The program, which will be held in Savannah September 7-12, 2014, is a comprehensive leadership program designed to prepare a diverse group of community, government, business and nonprofit professionals to work together to address issues that are specific to the Atlanta region. While there, participants gain a deep understanding of the communities that comprise the Atlanta region, and of they ways that they are interdependent.

“I am very pleased to see that Nancey has been invited to join this year’s RLI class,” said Steve French, dean of the College of Architecture. “To have our faculty fully engaged in our community is one of our strategic priorities, and this program is an ideal fit with Nancey’s expertise in regional and local economic development. She will bring a wealth of knowledge to share with the class and have an important opportunity to engage with other leaders on critical economic development issues of the Atlanta metro region.”

The Atlanta Regional Commission is the regional planning agency for the 10-county Atlanta region – Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale. ARC serves as the catalyst for regional progress by focusing leadership, attention and planning resources on key regional issues.
