  <title><![CDATA[Fox Elected to ASA Council]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.iac.gatech.edu/faculty-and-staff/faculty/bio/fox" target="_blank">Mary Frank Fox</a>, ADVANCE Professor in the <strong>School of Public Policy</strong>, has been elected to the council of the <a href="http://www.asanet.org/sections/SKAT.cfm" target="_blank">Section on Science, Knowledge, and Technology</a> of the American Sociological Association. The Section promotes scholarly research and professional activity on sociology of science, knowledge, and technology, sponsoring meetings and conferences, newsletters, and publications.</p><p>Sections are officially-recognized groups of sociologists who share a common interest in a specific topic. Members of the council of the <strong>Section on Science, Knowledge, and Technology</strong>, one of 52 sections addressing topics ranging from aging to globalization, are vested to carry out operations of the Section as representatives of the members.</p><p><em>Mary Frank Fox is an ADVANCE Professor in the School of Public Policy, and co-director of the Center for the Study of Women, Science, &amp; Technology at Georgia Institute of Technology. Fox's research focuses upon gender, science, and academia. Her research has introduced and established ways in which the participation and performance of women and men reflect and are affected by social and organizational features of science and academia.</em></p>]]></body>
