  <title><![CDATA[Africa Atlanta 2014: Bringing Africa’s past, present and future to Atlanta]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Africa Atlanta 2014 is an exciting event with an opening that officially kicked off <strong>Feb. 28</strong> with&nbsp; the exhibition “<a href="http://africaatlanta.org/calendar/event/mapping-place-africa-beyond-paper">Mapping Place: Africa Beyond Paper</a>.” The Atlanta opening is a collaboration between the <strong>Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts</strong> and the <strong>Jimmy Carter Library and Museum</strong>.&nbsp; The event features “<a href="http://africaatlanta.org/calendar/event/kongo-across-the-waters">KONGO across the WATERS</a>,” a magnificent art collection from the Royal Museum of Central Africa.</p><p>An array of&nbsp; nearly 50 activities are already underway and encompass art and museum exhibitions, cinema, conferences, performances, and workshops.</p><p>Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed is the honorary chair of the Africa Atlanta 2014 International Advisory Board.</p><p><em>Rolling Out</em> spoke with DeShawn Dominique Jenkins, managing director of Africa 2014, documented in an <a href="http://rollingout.com/culture/africa-atlanta-2014-bringing-africas-past-present-future-atlanta/#_" target="_blank">online podcast</a>.</p>]]></body>
