Royster\u003C\/a\u003E.\u0026nbsp; \u201cThis approach constitutes a transformative element--both for the Institute and the world beyond\u2014in enabling trans-boundary thinking, robust problem-solving, and innovative action.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ERoyster\u2019s remarks were made during the IAC Founder\u2019s Day program March 13 which celebrated the 125th anniversary of liberal arts at Georgia Tech.\u0026nbsp; Her comments were reinforced by the program panel, \u003Cstrong\u003E\u201c\u003C\/strong\u003EOne Georgia Tech:\u0026nbsp; The Liberal Arts and 21st Learning and Innovation,\u201d which brought together Georgia Tech faculty and alums whose education and careers are intriguing models for transboundary learning, leadership, and innovation.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EPanelist \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.atlantaregional.com\/about-us\/overview\/agency-structure\/arc-director-bio\u0022\u003EDouglas R. Hooker\u003C\/a\u003E, is executive director of the Atlanta Regional Commission.\u0026nbsp; He earned two degrees from Georgia Tech--a bachelor\u2019s in mechanical engineering and a master\u2019s from the IAC School of Public Policy.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cI wish that every Georgia Tech student could study the intersection of technology and policy,\u201d Hooker said, \u201cbecause, eventually, as they mature, they will require that knowledge in everything they do.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EPanelist \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.cc.gatech.edu\/aimosaic\/faculty\/nersessian\/\u0022\u003ENancy J. Nersessian\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;is a professor of cognitive sciences who is jointly appointed in IAC School of Public Policy and the College of Computing.\u0026nbsp; She discussed how transboundary learning can be strengthened at Georgia Tech.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cWe need to teach this at the beginning with integrative freshman seminars. Whether science or art, the creative process is similar \u2026 innovation requires the ability to formulate a problem from different perspectives.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAlso speaking as part of the program was Georgia Tech President \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.president.gatech.edu\/about-dr-peterson\u0022\u003EG.
