The conference gathers 5-10 outstanding undergraduate researchers, along with their faculty advisors, from each ACC university to present their original research.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EApril Martin will present her paper \u0022Too Big a Storm: The Complicated Atmosphere around Women\u0027s Sexual Problems,\u0022 which examines the framing and medicalization of women\u0027s sexuality. Based on a content analysis of articles from the \u003Cem\u003ENew York Times\u003C\/em\u003E, the \u003Cem\u003EWashington Post\u003C\/em\u003E, and \u003Cem\u003EUSA Today\u003C\/em\u003E in the past 15 years, Martin found that the media\u0027s presentation of women\u0027s sexual problems is both complex and contradictory, possibly resulting in a resistance to medicalization by the public and FDA.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn a similar vein, Elizabeth Warden will present \u201cThe Power to Keep Them Apart\u201d: The Reinforcement of Gender Stereotypes in Prescription Direct-To-Consumer Advertising,\u0022 which addresses the internalization of gender norms through a content analysis of prescription product advertisements in the highly gendered magazines \u003Cem\u003ECosmopolitan\u003C\/em\u003E and \u003Cem\u003EPopular Mechanics\u003C\/em\u003E.
