Oliver Contributes to Book on Economics Climate Change

Dr. Matthew E. Oliver has co-authored a chapter in Toward a New Climate Agreement: Conflict, Resolution and Governance (edited by Todd L. Cherry, Jon Hovi, and David McEvoy). The book’s over-arching theme regards the challenges to international climate negotiations and agreements, bringing together researchers from multiple disciplines including economics, political science, international law, and the natural sciences. Oliver’s co-authors for the chapter are Jamison Pike (EcoHealth Alliance), Shanshan Huang (Nanjing University of Finance and Economics), and Jason F. Shogren (Stroock Professor of Natural Resource Conservation and Management, University of Wyoming). The chapter is entitled “Climate policy coordination through institutional design: an experimental examination”, and describes an economic experiment demonstrating the effect of a simple institution on coordination in a threshold public good provision game.

Other notable contributors to the volume include Scott Barrett (Columbia University), Michael Hoel (University of Oslo), and Aart de Zeeuw (Tilburg University). The book was released in February of 2014, and is available for purchase at the following link: http://routledge-ny.com/books/details/9780415643795/.
