{"257301":{"#nid":"257301","#data":{"type":"news","title":"School of Building Construction faculty member, two College of Architecture alumni named to Engineering News Record\u2019s 2014 \u201cTop 20 Under 40\u201d list.","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EBaabak Ashuri, assistant professor in the School of Building Construction, along with College of Architecture alumni Claudia Bilotto and Jacquelynn Edmonds were recently selected to Engineering News Record (ENR) Southeast\u2019s \u201cTop 20 Under 40\u201d list for 2014.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EEach year, ENR\u0027s regional editions celebrate the excellence of young construction professionals by highlighting 20 individuals under the age of 40 who represent the \u0022Best-of-the-Best\u0022 in the construction and design industry. Recipients are selected by an independent panel and evaluated based on their industry experience, leadership skills and community service.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EBaabak Ashuri is an assistant professor in the School of Building Construction and director of the Georgia Tech Economics of the Sustainable Built Environment (ESBE) Lab. His educational, research, and service activities focus on sustainability conscious infrastructure investment valuation, a multidisciplinary field that lies at the confluence of construction engineering and management, infrastructure asset management, project finance, and innovative project delivery systems. Work in this area is essential for improving long-range planning and decision-making processes for buildings and civil infrastructure assets, advancing economic\/financial valuation methods for investments in capital projects while preserving environmental and social conditions to foster sustainable development.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIn addition to Ashuri, two College of Architecture alumni were named to the list as well. Claudia Bilotto received her Master\u2019s in city planning in 2001 from the School of City and Regional Planning. She is currently an associate vice president at AECOM in Atlanta. Jacquelynn Edmonds, who studied under Ashuri, received her M.S. in building construction from the School of Building Construction 2012. She is now a project architect at Primus Design Services in Woodstock, Georgia.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThis is a great honor for these young professionals,\u201d said Steve French, dean of the College of Architecture. \u201cTo have both faculty and alumni selected to ENR\u2019s list shows that the College is engaged with our professions in important ways.
