This talk discusses a proposed taxonomy for consistently defining and differentiating these types of courses. The talk will also cover some of the latest research on hybrid, blended, flipped, and inverted classes to examine how we can improve education.\u0022\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026nbsp;Bio:\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0022Lauren Margulieux is a third-year graduate student in the Engineering Psychology program at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She works in the Problem Solving and Educational Technology lab directed by Richard Catrambone. Lauren\u2019s research interests are educational technology and online learning, particularly in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. She is also a research assistant at the Center for 21st Century Universities where she works on projects related to online learning and alternative learning environments.\u0022\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003E2nd Speaker:\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ELaura Barg-Walkow\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ETitle:\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EUser-Centered Design: Developing a System for Tracking and Managing Pain\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EAbstract:\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EOsteoarthritis affects approximately 14% of the United States population and is one of the leading causes of pain for older adults. Pain can cause disability and mobility problems, in addition to having a high cost for the healthcare system. The overarching goal of this research project was to develop a technology tool that can support individuals\u0027 management of pain and also serve as a facilitator for communication with healthcare providers. We investigated: 1) factors and knowledge critical to successful osteoarthritis pain management; 2) usability of current tools for managing osteoarthritis pain; and 3) user needs. These findings were integrated to design a prototype, which has been iteratively refined through user testing.
