{"228001":{"#nid":"228001","#data":{"type":"event","title":"Deadline for seniors to apply for a 2013-2014 Noyce Scholarship","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EUp to seven one \u2013year $10,000 National Science Foundation \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/web.kennesaw.edu\/noyce\/content\/program-information\u0022\u003ENoyce Scholarships\u003C\/a\u003E are immediately available for senior Tech students who want to teach secondary level (grades -6-12) mathematics through a partnership with Kennesaw State.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESeniors at Tech who are majoring in a STEM* field or STEM-related field and have a minimum 3.0 GPA may apply immediately to receive the scholarship during the 2013 fall and 2014 spring semester.\u0026nbsp; Upon graduation in 2014, recipients will then enter into a \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/mathsci.kennesaw.edu\/math.html\u0022\u003EMasters of Art (MAT) in Teaching in Mathematics Education (grades 6-12)\u003C\/a\u003E at Kennesaw State. \u0026nbsp;The MAT degree includes graduate-level content coursed as well as initial teaching certification in Georgia. Teachers with a master\u2019s receive higher salaries. Participants will also complete requirements to teach mathematics to English Language Learners.\u0026nbsp; Recipients are required to complete one year of teaching in a high-need school district for each $5,000 of support received.
