{"222761":{"#nid":"222761","#data":{"type":"event","title":"Volunteer to Package Donations for Atlanta Day Shelter","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThroughout the summer, the Office of Leadership \u0026amp; Civic Engagement has hosted \u0022Community Connections,\u0022 a collection drive for families and students attending FASET to benefit the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children, one of Tech\u0027s neighboring community partners.\u0026nbsp;The project will culminate with an on-campus service event in August where incoming students will volunteer along-side upper class students, faculty, and staff to package donated goods and assemble kits for delivery to the Atlanta Day Shelter.\u0026nbsp;Examples of kits include Shower Kits and Snack Packs, which directly benefit ADS\u0027 Critical Needs Program. No RSVP is required.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cem\u003EThe mission of the Atlanta Day Shelter is to ease the burden of homelessness for women and children and to assist in establishing self-sufficiency by providing comprehensive education and supportive services in a manner that respects human dignity. Since its founding in 1984, ADS has served as a daytime resource center and safe refuge for homeless women and children in the Metro Atlanta area.
