{"210401":{"#nid":"210401","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Survey Reveals Split on Online vs. Paper Whistle","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EReaders seem to be divided when it comes to whether they\u2019d read The Whistle if it were only available online, according to the results of our recent readership survey. \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EOut of 344 faculty and staff members, 32.9 percent indicated that they have computer access but would prefer to read a print version, while 46.2 percent indicated that nothing would prevent them from reading an electronic version.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThis is one of the many pieces of information we learned from the survey, which was emailed to a sample of 1,021 Georgia Tech employees. Respondents came from units, colleges, and schools from across campus, and included 329 staff members and 15 faculty members.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EOther findings from the survey included the following:\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EFifty-seven percent of respondents read every issue, while 27 percent read the occasional issue.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EAbout 90 percent read the print version, while 9.6 percent read the online version available at \u003Ca href=\u0022http:\/\/www.whistle.gatech.edu\u0022 title=\u0022www.whistle.gatech.edu\u0022\u003Ewww.whistle.gatech.edu\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWhen asked how they\u2019d prefer to receive an electronic Whistle, 27.3 percent said they were very likely to read an emailed PDF of each issue; 19.5 percent were very likely to read an email directing readers to a website with new content; and 18.6 percent would be very likely to read it if there were a link in the Daily Digest.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWhen asked about using Facebook or Twitter to share highlights from The Whistle, 60.8 percent and 84.6 percent, respectively, weren\u2019t interested.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe information collected in this survey will be used to make informed decisions about The Whistle and its content going forward.
