"Genome-scale DNA Methylation Changes in Endothelial Cells by Disturbed Flow and its Role in Atherosclerosis"

Atherosclerosis, the cause of heart attack and stroke, localizes to curves or branches in the vasculature where disturbed blood flow alters gene expression and induces endothelial cell dysfunction. The mechanism of flow-induced gene regulation via DNA methylation has not been well studied. The aim of the current study is to discover DNA methylation changes due to disturbed flow that alter gene expression and promote atherosclerosis development.

"Characterization of PD-1/PD-ligand Interaction and its Effects on T-cell Antigen Recognition"

PD-1 represents a promising therapeutic target, as blockade of PD-1/PD ligand has been shown to restore responses of exhausted antigen-specific T cells in a variety of chronic infectious diseases and cancer. However, there lacks a detailed description of in situ PD-1/PD-ligand interaction. The current study will provide two-dimensional analysis of such receptor-ligand interactions and their interplay with TCR-CD8-pMHC interaction.

]]> The Graduate and Post-Doc (GaP) Seminar Series is a weekly event of biotechnology related research presentations by two graduate students or post-docs of IBB and is co-sponsored by BME. It is held every Wednesday at 12:00pm in IBB 1128 and refreshments are provided. If your research group or department would like to present at future seminars, please contact Manu Platt, PhD.
