  <title><![CDATA[Manufacturing Brown Bag Seminar: Jennifer Clark on Future U.S. Manufacturing Policy]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>The Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute (GTMI)&nbsp;welcomes Dr. Jennifer Clark,&nbsp;director of the Center for Urban Innovation in the Ivan Allen College&nbsp;and&nbsp;associate professor in the School of Public Policy, who will speak on "Resilience by Design: The Future of Manufacturing Policy in the U.S.,"&nbsp;on Monday, April 1, 2013. The seminar begins at Noon in Room 114 of the Callaway Manufacturing Research building.</p><p>Jennifer Clark’s research focuses on regional economic development, manufacturing, industry clusters, and innovation. She publishes research on the development and diffusion of regional policies (including research centers) and their effect on cities and their economic competitiveness. Her first book, <em>Remaking Regional Economies: Power, Labor, and Firm Strategies in the Knowledge Economy</em>, won the Best Book Award from the Regional Studies Association in 2009. Her newest book, <em>Working Regions: Reconnecting Innovation and Production in the Knowledge Economy</em>,focuses on policy models aimed at rebuilding the links between innovation and manufacturing in the U.S. She has collaborated on manufacturing and innovation policy projects with a broad range of organizations including the OECD, and the Canadian, U.K., and U.S. governments. She earned her PhD in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University.</p>]]></body>
