Her research project examines how regions within countries implement national bioscience strategies, interact with industry globally to design their own and to create effective bioscience institutions. Her talk highlights how established (Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia) and emerging (Atlantic Provinces) bioscience regions treat two critical areas, risk finance and skill development, differently and with surprising results. In addition, the presentation emphasizes that while established and emerging bioscience regions face different opportunities, both have room to develop through different types of innovation. National strategies and institutions often reflect these regional differences.
