  <title><![CDATA[Library Hosts Annual “Gift of Reading” Charitable Book Drive for My Sister’s House]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Every holiday season the Georgia Tech Library gives back to the metro Atlanta community by coordinating an annual charitable book drive.</p><p>This year’s drive will focus on collecting reading and educational material for <a href="http://www.atlantamission.org/the-mission/our-history/">My Sister’s House</a>, a division of the Atlanta mission, which offers overnight shelter and services to 264 homeless women and children everyday.</p><p>Suggested donation items:</p><ul><li>Diaries</li><li>Coloring books</li><li>Book on tapes</li><li>Dictionaries</li><li>Comic books</li><li>Journals</li><li>Markers, crayons, etc.</li><li>DVDS (non-violent)</li><li>Study skills books</li></ul><p>Founded in 1938, the Atlanta Mission was first established as a soup kitchen to feed homeless men during The Great Depression. According to their website, the Atlanta Mission became the first organization in Atlanta and the United States to offer services to homeless women in October 1969.</p><p>The annual charitable book drive will run until Dec. 20, with collection containers at the Library Rotunda and the Clough Commons crossover on 1West.
