Georgia Tech Jazz Ensemble selected for 2013 JENerations Jazz Festival

This January, the Georgia Tech Jazz Ensemble has been invited to perform at the Jazz Educator Network’s Annual JENerations Jazz Festival to be held in Atlanta. This international event is the organization's premier festival and the Jazz Ensemble will be performing alongside six hundred other musicians over the January 2-5 weekend.

Tech’s Jazz Ensemble, made up of large jazz groups and smaller combos, is directed by Dr. Chip Crotts, an assistant professor of the School of Music. The ensemble was one of just thirty groups from across the nation chosen to perform at this year’s conference. Among those, only fifteen are university jazz groups.

“There has definitely been a lot of interest [in the Jazz Festival] throughout the School of Music. I know the students are really excited about the opportunity to perform for a very large international audience here in Atlanta,” Crotts said. The JENerations Jazz Festival will feature musicians of all ages from all over the world, performing a variety of styles including swing, bebop, Latin jazz, rock, funk and R&B.

For further information about the Festival and the Jazz Program @ GT, please contact Dr. Chip Crotts, or visit the Jazz Studies webpage at http://gtband.net/jazz-ensemble/.
